LSI LED Area Light Controls & Sensors

LSI Industries Controls offers 2 smart control platforms which allow you to define and control your commercial LED lighting fixture systems while reducing your energy and maintenance costs up to 50%.

How it works

• Either a motion sensor per pole, in strategic locations around the lot, or combination of both.
• Controllers are used to light up per pole or by area in whichever direction you want.
• Someone can walk onto the lot or drive in and sensors will make the lights come on
• The controller can be attached or integrated into the fixtures at manufacture so that every fixture is controllable
• Alternatively, a controller can be attached to every pole that controls the fixtures mounted to the pole.
• Sensors are then mounted to every so many poles so you can set zoning areas can be established
• You can cut the car lot in 4 or 8, have a motion sensor at the beginning of each zone so that when someone drives in or walks by, it will set every pole off in the zone.
• You can have multiple motion sensors, north and south etc. or however you want it so you can have more control of the lights.
• If you want to have a multi directional sensor system then it gets complicated as we need a site plan on how you want to map out the sensors for optimum detection settings
• Sensors on every pole can get expensive however you can have full control of every light and every pole.
• You can control the amount of zones by having sensors set at every 3^rd pole.
• Can also have 1 pole in 2 zones so the system is very flexible.

Motion Sensors

• There are 2 types of motion sensor - Motion Sensor and External Motion Sensor with Controller
• The sensors are attached to a pole or surface mounted onto a wall then connected to the fixture/pole controller that has a range and detects the controllers up to 72 feet.
• The sensors can be mounted in 2 ways: Mounted and wired to a pole or fixture pole or the Motion Sensor with controller that’s an independent external surface mounted box

Application depends what you want to do and where you want the motion to be detected.

External Motion sensor can be mounted somewhere else like a driveway at the side of a building or connected to a wall pack where there are no poles so that when it hits, it controls all the poles you have set in that zone.

It depends on what the dealership wants, how many areas they want to highlight, specific areas to light up, if you don’t care about people walking on the street but want the middle of the lot to be bright, or increased security in additional areas.

The Gold package allows for 1 sensor for 1 zone however the Platinum can crossover zones for added fixture control functionality.

Gold and Platinum Control Options

Option 1 - Gold LED Lighting Control Package Overiew

• 1-way communications; quick, easy self-commissioning on site locally; ability to edit schedules and manage lights by groups or up to 12 zones with as many fixtures and poles as you want.
• You don’t get the any feedback from the light fixtures. No reports, no internet access, no remote access, commissioned on site with the software loaded onto a pc or a site manager touch screen.
• The program pings the lights to detect them and then you leave it alone.

This is the standard controls package for someone who just wants to set it up, get it running, and doesn’t care after that. There a visual monitor to let you know it works and you can let it go.

Option 2 - Platinum LED Lighting Control Package Overview – 30% cost difference

• 2-way communications with comprehensive full reporting functions where you can see whatever you want.. what the wattages are, voltage is, running schedule, make changes, override change, etc.
• Can manage individual lights or zones, allows crossover zones
• Remote Internet access via PC/Tablet/Android application, google maps, email alerts,

This is the best-in-class controls package that has all the bells and whistles with full flexibility to control multiple sites from a device anywhere you want.

LED Lighting Controls Summary

• Gold is the system that works, can manipulate the system on site, don’t want internet access or reporting
• Platinum is if you want all the bells and whistles on, full flexibility, remote access and reporting.

The difference in the Gold and Platinum LED Lighting Controls packages purely depends on what features you want.

 There is no need for a Photocell on the lighting fixture as it becomes redundant as daylight savings time is already built into the system.

Most companies and especially Auto Dealerships and Shopping Malls set ups want complete control to be able to:

1. Create multiple independent zones of LED lighting fixtures around the premise to act with different behaviors
2. Set 10% dimming options at midnight to save LED lighting life expectancy and operational costs
3. Add motion sensors for security so when detected and tripped, the LED light will go from 10% to 100% brightness

Gold Package breakdown

• Controller per fixture or per pole - 2”x8” box with antenna, wired to the fixture/s with a tethered line that holds controller to the pole
• Pole Kit for each pole
• Override – box in electrical room that whenever you want or if anything goes wrong with PC or controller, you hit the button and all the lights come on.
• Site Manager - the software that installs onto the PC and connects to every fixture, sensor and pole to control everything
• External Motion Sensor with Controller surface mounted onto a wall

Platinum Package breakdown
